A smart electronic travel guide system featuring bilingual presentations of tourism attractions and a hand-drawn online map was released in Yuexiu district, Guangzhou on July 12.
The system, named Yuexiu Travel 1.0, was developed by Yuexiu tourism bureau and Guangzhou Lvji Technology and aims to provide travel services to visitors who visit the district.
The system provides an accurate map of Yuexiu, based on Baidu maps and Amap, as well as navigation services. Tourists can use the map by downloading an app on their smart phone. Once launched, the app can describe scenic spots in English and Chinese.
"Yuexiu district boasts a wide range of historic and cultural relics and the system will surely promote our tourism industry," said Yu Guoqing, director of Yuexiu tourism bureau. He added that the district will strengthen the construction and upgrading of its tourism products and related supporting systems to meet visitor demand.
The smart system has been deployed in over 500 places across Yuexiu district including scenic spots, historic sites, and the former residences of celebrities to provide help for visitors looking for delicious local food, comfortable hotels as well as places for shopping and recreation.
A total of 10 recommended tourism routes are also included in the system. These routes, focusing on the traditional central axis of Guangzhou, will help visitors to secure a meaningful and fruitful experience of the city's culture and beautiful views.
