Pingtan two villages get provincial titles

Pingtan two villages, Dacheng village and Youyi village, were awarded 200,000 yuan ($ 29,492.8) for entering the list of the 2017 Fujian Demonstration Villages., local media reported on July 7.

A total of 96 villages across the province won the provincial honorary title, and are expected to share the prize of 19.2 million yuan offered by Fujian Provincial Department of Finance.

The prize is going to be used for a further increase of these villages' infrastructure, according to the news released by the department.

Dacheng village, in the Liushui town, is located on the northeast of Pingtan while Youyi village, in the So'ao town on the northwest of the city. Both of the two villages boast agreeable climate, captivating sea views and simple folkways. Many locals still make their living by catching oysters and shrimp, just as their ancestors did.
