The city of Hechi in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region held a public benefit running activity on July 8 to raise money for low income earners.
A total of 186 volunteers in the insurance industry and dozens of Hechi locals gathered at China Life Insurance (Group) Company's Hechi branch to set off on their charity run.
Organized by the Insurance Association of Hechi, the event is part of a charitable series of "poverty relief programs" launched by the Insurance Association of China.

By paying for the kilometers they run, participants raised money for people in need across the country.
Runners can donate their mileage by using event sponsor Migu Running's app mobile app. The longer they run, the bigger donation they will make.
The money raised will first go to insurance agencies who will then distribute donations to those in need.

It's estimated that between 500 and 2,000 people will be aided financially from the activity, the organizer said.
