Since the proposal for establishing a reading association was made in April this year, a total of 82 application forms from reading clubs were received by Guangzhou Library as of May 31. After meticulous selection, 24 of the clubs including Love Reading Club, 807 Reading Club and Siwei Shuquan Reading Club were announced as members of the association at the launch ceremony.
Moreover, 12 of the members, including courtesy reading clubs, are committed to providing help to visually impaired readers and young readers in low-income households or dealing with illness – each of which will be given special funds each year.
