Guiyang picked up the award for the Best Summer Resort City for the third consecutive year on July 8 at the third China Summer Resort Tourism Industrial Summit held in Anshun, Guizhou province.
Jointly held by the China Tourism Academy and China Meteorological Administration, the summit aims to facilitate sustainable development in the summer resort tourism industry.
Officials and experts from across the country attended the summit to discuss the new models and concepts to address the unbalanced availability of resources during different seasons in tourism cities.

After an investigation of all the national tourism cities in China, the summit honored five cities as Best Summer Resort Cities.
Southwest China's Guizhou province has Guiyang and Anshun among the cities. Other cities included are Kunming in Yunnan province, Changchun in Jilin province and Yantai in Shandong province. Additionally, the forum selected five most potential summer resort cities.
Boasting a pleasant climate and rich tourism resources, Guiyang has 22 recommended tourism routes, and has gained popularity as a summer destination across the country.
The host city of Anshun, with relatively cool average summer temperatures, has also attracted millions of visitors. The next summit will take place in Anshun, which is expected to boost its visitor numbers.
