A two-page promotional piece on the city of Zhuhai ran in The Daily Telegraph on July 7. The Xinhua News Agency-written article titled Innovative Zhuhai open for global business outlines the city's rising role as southern Chinese portal known for opening-up and innovation.
Being adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao, Zhuhai is one of the first four special economic zones in China. The zones opened to the outside world to implement the nation's development strategy, the report says.
The newsvertisement mentions the South China city's top ranking on the nation's Urban Sustainability Index in 2013 as well as its reinforced direct trade partnerships with Europe and America.
The article states that Zhuhai held the 3rd China-Israel Investment Summit on June 27-28, setting a record for Chinese-Israeli cooperation and nailing down 12 cooperative projects with a total value of more than $2.5 billion.

More and more enterprises and platforms have been attracted to the coastal city, the report says, for example, the Hengqin Free Trade Zone which functions as a hub to access top-quality innovation resources worldwide.
Several impressive figures are cited concerning remarkable progress achieved in building innovative platforms, such as the growth rates in patent applications and licensing -- the city ranking first among all others in the Pearl River Delta, it says.
The report also states that with ports being the physical support for Zhuhai's renewed opening-up, the systematic innovation promoted by the FTZ can be viewed as the city's inner power to build up a high-level open hub.
Attention is also paid to the great potential of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and its impact on Zhuhai's economy.
"With the operation of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge this year, Zhuhai will become yet more accessible to the outside world. It is foreseeable that Zhuhai is destined to bring its opening-up to a new high," the report states.
The promotional feature was published in conjunction with the 12th G20 Summit held in Hamburg, Germany between July 7 and 8.
