Take a cruise through Wuxi's ancient canal culture

As the most unique part of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, Jiangnan ancient canal features a loop around the city. Recently the tourism authority has launched two cruise routes where you can enjoy the beauty of ancient culture.

The First Route: Journey savoring the essence of culture

Morning: Nanchan Temple Scenic Nanchan Temple Scenic is the most characteristic place in Wuxi with antiques, snacks and bookstores. It is a great place for you to relax and enjoy the canal culture.

Noon: Muguiying Pastry Food Muguiying Pastry Food, which originated in 1958, is the largest professional pastry store in Wuxi city. Famous items such as five-color dumplings, yulan cakes, various kinds of colorful pastries and festive cakes inspire unforgettable memories of old Wuxi.

Afternoon: A trip on a cruise boat If you want close contact with the ancient canal, a cruise boat is the best way to go. The trip will take you two hours. Along the route that Emperor Qianlong followed, the picturesque scenery unfolds before your eyes. The boat goes around the old city where you can enjoy the modern cityscape, before it enters “water alley” where you will enjoy the unique Jiangnan water village.

At night: Opera Wharf in Taoshao Alley Located in Taosha Alley, the Chinese opera wharf features traditional opera performances, art appreciation, catering and tea tasting. Tourists can experience traditional Chinese culture here.
