Guangzhou's innovative gadgets and distinctive culture dazzled a large crowd of Russian spectators when the 2017 Experience China-Guangdong Cultural Tour to Europe opened in Moscow, Russia, on July 3.

More than 100 Russian officials and residents attended the opening ceremony at the Chinese Culture Center, attracted by the many featured exhibits from South China's Guangdong province.

Guangzhou-based enterprises showcased their strength in several sectors with displays of their impressive innovative achievements.

"It's our latest intelligent unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)," explained an employee from EHang Co, the world's leading tech company in the intelligent aerial vehicle sector. "It's quite easy to manipulate," said the staff member.

"Instead of using a traditional remote control, users can operate it via software on a smartphone. In combination with the GPS on the phone, it can also operate from a distance from the person, serving as a photographer at your service."

Participants who operate the EHang's drone wearing virtual reality glasses are able to feel like they are driving a pilotless plane.

The exhibition is also helping to deepen the Russian public's understanding of Guangdong culture and to promote economic and cultural cooperation between Guangdong and Russia.

Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Corporation (GPC)'s most popular product — Wanglaoji herbal tea — was also on display at the culture center. It offered Russians a window into traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).

The botanical beverage is said to rival the most popular soft drink, Coca-Cola.

A photo exhibition and a book fair were also held in Russia on July 4, with more than 200 books and 70 photography works showcasing Guangdong province's economic development, distinctive cultures, natural beauty and work in the construction of the Maritime Silk Road.
