The Chinese central government has attached great importance to the intelligent connected vehicle industry as one of China's emerging manufacturing sectors. Appropriately, Tianjin, as China's demonstration area for intelligent connected vehicles, recently welcomed the first World Intelligence Congress on June 29.
Under the guidance of the plan for coordination of development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Tianjin, in recent years, has carried out studies of intelligent connected cars, formulated forward-looking strategies for the intelligent connected vehicle industry, and cultivated a group of institutions and colleges with leading automotive research and development technology facilities. Tianjin has gradually become the cradle of high-end talents for intelligent connected vehicles and also a gathering place for relevant technology companies.
Homemade self-driving intelligent connected commuter cars
An intelligent connected commuter car capable of fully autonomous driving made its debut at the fair. With a designed speed of 20km per hour and a driving range of 60km, the car can comfortably accommodate eight to ten people.
The vehicle is able to give way to pedestrians, automatically follow other cars, and avoid obstacles. At the same time, it can be remotely monitored, managed, and dispatched through a cloud platform.
Furthermore, the steering wheel and center console are replaced with spacious and comfortable viewing seats complementing a well-designed leather sofa in the main seating area. Departures from traditional vehicle layout are supplemented with wifi, an audio-visual system, a four dimensional air-conditioner, a seven-color-changeable LED lamp and a sound insulation system.

The congress also presented some new types of intelligent connected vehicles, enhancing learning and communication among manufactures and further boosting the development of the intelligent connected automotive industry.
The intelligent connected car is a critical breakthrough in the transformation and upgrading of China's automotive industry and will profoundly influence many other sectors, including auto manufacturing and maintenance, finance and insurance, and transportation and security.
Many of Tianjin's local intelligent enterprises, in addition to well-known national companies such as Huawei and Ant Financial, also displayed their new auto products at the congress.
