Beijing extols efficacy of Zhuhai tech-solutions office

Zhuhai Public Technical Service Platform for Import & Export (IETP) was designated a National Demonstration Base of Quality Supervision & Sci-Tech Achievements Transformation on June 29. The announcement was made at the city agency's first scientific and technological achievements transformation promotion conference.

At the same time, SCUT (South China University of Technology)-Zhuhai Institute of Modern Industrial Innovation signed an agreement with IETP to partner in technical innovation, transformation of scientific and technological achievements, incubation of scientific and technological projects, and talent cultivation. The parties will service local industrial development with solutions to demands of key and generic technologies.

IETP has so far provided 144 technical support assists for enterprises, posted 3,749 service messages, and hosted 147 training sessions, attracting 9,784 participants from 6,607 enterprises.

Furthermore, its incubation and subsidy plans have benefitted 178 enterprises and 1,895 projects. Following its instructions on standards and quality management, Zhuhai's LED industry has increased its qualified rate from 60 percent to 99 percent.

The development of entity economy relies upon the stimulation of science and technology, noted Zhuhai's deputy mayor, Lu Xiaofeng. She extended hopes that it would bring more advantageous resources and talents together to help local enterprises make scientific and technological achievements and accelerate the use of their successes.

The opening of the promotion conference marked a breakthrough for IETP. It will continue to promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, which will in turn upgrade local enterprises and sustainable development of the regional economy, said Li Qingxiang, director of the Zhuhai Entry-Exit Inspection & Quarantine Bureau to which IETP is subordinate.
