Taking care of patients like family
Zhang Yiping, a new member of the Wanqing voluntary group, would never forget the first patient she took care of.
It was an old man lying in bed, having an infusion and staring at the ceiling. He was so thin that there seemed to be no gap between the yellow-flowered quit and the sheet.
"He is like my grandpa," Zhang said.
Li Peixuan has helped five cancer patients between 2010 -- the year he joined Wanqing -- and 2013 -- the year he graduated.
Aside from caring about the patients, their families can also receive care from Wanqing volunteers.
Li used to visit a granny who had a granddaughter in primary school. He offered help to the granny and meanwhile, spared time to tutor her granddaughter.
Both the patient and her family were grateful to Li and always brought him snacks and fruit.
