Mediland Polyclinic, the first one of its kind sponsored by a Macao-based institution in the Chinese mainland, opened in Jida on June 17.
Exclusively funded by Macao Health Link Medical Group Ltd (Healthlink), the 500-sq-m polyclinic specializes in pediatrics and will expand to cover gynecology, dentistry, medical cosmetology, plastic surgery, and traditional Chinese medicine, explained Dr Fong Man Tat, doctor in charge of the polyclinic.
It is Zhuhai's first medical institute under the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA), an agreement to promote economic and trade ties between Chinese mainland and Hong Kong and Macao. Mediland Polyclinic brings expertise and services from Hong Kong and Macao to supplement Chinese resources and practices, Fong stated.
A special consulting room with medical experts from Hong Kong and Macao has been set up in Second People's Hospital.

If necessary, patients will be transferred to Hong Kong, Macao, or even abroad for more advanced medical care services. And family physicians will be arranged for home visits, Fong said.
When the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge construction is completed, medical services in the Chinese mainland will incorporate more aspects from Hong Kong and Macao.
The polyclinic has gained more than 100 CEPA certificates and plans to open more clinics in Zhuhai and in other cities of Guangdong. It will provide services through a state-of-the-art operational model from Hong Kong, Macao and other International regions.
With its opening, Mediland Polyclinic launched a pro bono activity on children's growth, providing services for families in the community.
The polyclinic has official Weibo and Wechat accounts (aokangjian), offering more information about pediatric services.
