Worldloppet comes to Jilin

The future of Worldloppet sports events and the global cross-country skiing community was discussed during the opening ceremony of the Worldloppet Annual General Meeting 2017, held at Jingyuetan Park in Changchun, Jilin province, on June 15.

Juha Viljamaa, president of Worldloppet, said, at the opening ceremony that China has become one of its most important partners.

He went on to say Changchun has rich and high-quality ice and snow resources, and perfect racing tracks for Vasaloppet sports events.

The opening ceremony left a deep impression on the audience. Changchun's ice and snow industry has become a city trademark, he added.

This year's general meeting will include several group meetings and international skiers will share their experiences and problems regarding cross-country skiing and discuss the development of the sport during the conferences.

The general meeting held in Changchun will deepen the relationship between China and other members of the Federation and promote the city to the world.

The meeting will last until June 18, with more than 50 event presidents and guests from 18 member countries of the Worldloppet International Ski Federation in attendance.

Worldloppet International Ski Federation, established in 1978 in Sweden, is a cross-country skiing association with more than 130,000 professional skiers and enthusiasts who participate in sports events the federation organizes every year.
