A delegation from South China's Guangdong province visited the Republic of Ireland from June 8 to 11, in a bid to strengthen ties on technology, education and agriculture.
Led by Hu Chunhua, chief of Guangdong Provincial CPC Committee, the delegation attended the Guangdong-Ireland Economic and Trade Cooperation Roundtable.
"Guangdong is exploring new ways to develop its economy and promote green and low-carbon cycling economy," Hu said at the meeting.
"We hope to create new cooperation opportunities with Ireland by expanding two-way investment, strengthening technology and education, as well as deepening cultural exchanges."
Hu also met Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny to implement the consensus made by the leaders of China and Israel and expand exchanges in different fields on different levels.
"China and Ireland have enjoyed a long-term friendship and smooth bilateral relationships," Kenny said.
"Ireland is willing to strengthen cooperation with China and provide favorable policies for Guangdong companies to invest and start business in Ireland."
The Guangdong delegation also visited Ireland Shannon Free Trade Zone (FTZ) to exchange experiences and seek cooperation. A memorandum of understanding was signed between the FTZ and Guangdong FTZ to facilitate future cooperation.
