Cultural festival highlights Baotou traditions

Xikou Cultural Festival opened in Baotou, Inner Mongolia autonomous region on June 7, according to Baotou Daily.

The festival, dedicated to the past population migration movement from mainly Shanxi province to its western regions to make a living, will run until June 9, highlighting the folk culture of Baotou.

Li Jindou, a comedian, and Wang Xiaolei, a CCTV presenter, presided over the opening ceremony of the festival.

Artistic performances included er en tai (a kind of folk opera performed by two people, usually one male and one female), and Jin opera.
