Three metro lines will be constructed as part of the Zhuhai Rail Transit Network Plan to support the burgeoning Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone, it was announced by the Urban-Rural Planning & Development Bureau on June 7.
The proposal covering the Technical Innovation Coast South Reclamation of Tangjiawan is posted on the bureau website. It calls for stepped-up construction of Jinqin Express Road to the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge and changes to tidal flats.
Covering 456.61 hectares, the planned area is in the north Hi-Tech Zone, stretching eastward from Gangwan Avenue to the Jinxing Reclamation seawall, and extending southward from Zhongzhu to Jinfeng roads flood drainage sites.

The industrial cluster contains such high-tech industries as software and integrated circuit design, and biomedical R&D.
Regarding urban transportation, the area will form a network of metro, urban rail transit, tram, express road, and expressway. In additional to the Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity MRT, metro lines and a medium-capacity transportation system will be created.
Metro Lines 1, 2, and 3 will be built. An extension Metro Line 2 will run from Jinding Industrial Park in the north to Gongbei Port in the south.
The medium-capacity Line 1 will start at Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity MRT Zhuhai North Station in Jinding, passing through North Jinfeng Road, Gangwan Avenue, and Meihua Road before terminating at Shangchong Station in New Xiangzhou. Three stations will be constructed along the route.
In the meantime, the medium-capacity Line 2 will run from Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity MRT Zhuhai North Station TOD core area and connect with Streetcar Line 1. A station will be built at the intersection of North Jinfeng Road and North Lovers Avenue.
