Guangzhou to hold int’l food fair

More than 1,000 food companies from across the world are set to gather at the Poly World Trade Center Expo in Guangzhou, Guangdong province for the Guangzhou International Food & Ingredients Fair 2017 (GIFMS) on June 14-17.

The GIFMS has been held in Guangzhou for six consecutive years. This year, the event will feature more exhibitors and a higher standard of food ingredients than ever before.

Covering an area of more than 40,000 square meters, the exhibition will be divided into four main areas. The No 1 and No 2 exhibition halls are for catering companies while the No 3 and No 4 exhibition halls will display international food and local delicacies respectively.

The most popular exhibition hall should be the No 3 hall as visitors will be able to try a wide range of international foods and ingredients such as Canadian salmon, French wine, Arctic cod from Norway and caviar from Iran. Many of the exhibitors plan to fly in their ingredients just before the start of the event to ensure they are extra fresh.

The GIFMS will also function as a platform to increase the global exposure of Guangzhou cuisine, as there will be a special exhibition about the city's catering industry at the event.

The GIFMS will also feature many activities in addition to the exhibition, including cooking competitions and forums on the catering industry.
