The Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone, located in the city's Pudong New Area, is becoming one of the most popular tourist destinations for citizens, Pudong Times reported on June 1.
The analysis was based on the huge number of visitors to the zone during the past Dragon Boat Festival holiday from May 28 to 30.
According to officials at the zone, it received more than 260,000 tourists during the three-day holiday, accounting for about 35 percent of total visitors that Pudong's 25 attractions received during the same period.
Shanghai Disney Resort is a magnet in the zone, so is Vanilla Park, which has a lavender field of over 60,000 square meters that is in full blossom now and attracted nearly 90,000 visitors.
The Maxus Music Valley brought together some wonderful musical talent including Yannick Nézet-Séguin, a Canadian conductor and pianist, Tan Dun, a Chinese musician, the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra, and Suzhou Symphony Orchestra.
The Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone covers a total area of 24.7 square kilometers and is designed to be a world leading tourist destination that integrates leisure, exhibitions, retail, and sport. It consists of a variety of attractions including the Disney Resort, Vanilla Park, Maxus Music Valley, Yioulai Shopping Village, and an ecological park.
