A total of 120 twins of different ages from across the country took part in a rafting competition held at the grand Canyon of Western-Henan in Sanmenxia from May 28 to 29.

It is the largest competition in China designed only for twins to enter and has been held 10 times previously.

Each pair of twins had their communication and understanding of one another put to the test while navigating waters flowing through caves, beneath waterfalls, and winding rivers through the six-kilometer course.

Yang Feng and Yang Dong from Sanmenxia claimed the top prize with Gao Hong and Gao Yu from Xi'an province taking second place. Third went to Li Heqing and Li Hexing from Henan's Luoyang.

The two-day event which also included activities where the twins released butterflies, took part in a car parade, fireworks display and music party is part of the 13th Sanmenxia International Tourism Festival.

A record 20,000 people attended the event.

The Grand Canyon at Guandaokou township boasts cascading waterfalls and calm pools, drawing in a great number of rafters each year.
