A delegation of members surnamed Guo visited Sanmenxia, Henan province, and attended the ancestor-worshipping ceremony at the Guo State Museum on April 4, Tomb Sweeping Day in China.
The family name Guo originated from Guo State, a vassal state of the early Western Zhou Dynasty (11th century BC - 771 BC).
Roughly 50 delegation members from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Fujian and other provinces showed their respect through a traditional and solemn ceremony on Tomb Sweeping Day.
In the last two decades, people with the family name Guo across the world have held ancestor worshipping ceremonies in Sanmenxia over 30 times.
A seminar on the family name Guo was held in the afternoon. Zhang Jianfeng, director of the Henan United Front Work Department, discussed Sanmenxia’s development and opportunities.
