Digital payment enters Ag market

Digital payment is developing rapidly in recent years, especially in China. Now even the agricultural market, a place you would usually not expect the technology, is starting to offer convenience to residents.

The Chaoyang Agricultural Market in Wuxi's downtown Zhongshan Road has introduced the digital payment system since May 24 to facilitate its consumers. Stickers attached with QR codes have been stuck to every booth in the market while the transaction can be completed via Alipay and WeChat payment, two biggest online payment platforms in China.

It is the first agricultural market in the city that adopts the digital payment measure, with more to come in the future.

Apart from the digital payment system, the Chaoyang Agricultural Market has long been upgrading its services integrated with cutting-edge internet of things (IoT) technology. These include the installment of 280 high-definition monitors and the introduction of a modern integrated energy control system which uses IoT technology to manage the market's water, electricity and lighting.
