Children's Day is here, and with so many wonderful child-friendly venues all around Shanghai it's hard to know where to take the family to celebrate the special day.
Here we highlight some of the best places in Shanghai to spend Children's Day.
Dala Nature Camp
Dala Nature Camp, located in the Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone, Pudong New Area, is a natural forest where children can enjoy outdoor fun and get close to nature.
A series of interesting courses have been designed for kids, including teaching camping skills, learning how to explore nature using the five senses, learning about wild birds and wetland plants, and even how to use fallen leaves and wood to build miniature houses for creatures in the forest.

Xingmengyu intelligence training theme park
An intelligence training theme park located in Shanghai's Minhang district, Xingmengyu, allows children to try a variety of games and activities themed around an elven exploration. Aimed at kids between the ages of three and 12, the camp uses a story-based education approach to turn parents and kids into elves who then have to work together to protect their village from evil elves. The participants have to finish tasks such as rock climbing, playing various instruments, and building a variety of objects in order to collect clues and treasure.

The River Mall
A STEAM-themed carnival will be held at the River Mall in Shnaghai's Pudong New Area from May 28 to June 4.
STEAM refers to the fields of study in science, technology, engineering, art & design, and mathematics. The STEAM programs aim to teach students to think critically and have an engineering or design approach towards real-world problems. It also helps work on their math and science skills.

Shanghai Flower Port
The Shanghai Flower Port is an ideal place for parents and kids to enjoy flowers and pick fresh fruit. Currently, more than 200 varieties of roses are in full blossom at the port and visitors can observe a range of other flowers including hydrangea and peach blossom.
Additionally, there is a 7,500 square meters farmland area that uses soilless culture technology to plant thousands of new varieties of vegetables such as tomatoes green chilies, and cucumbers.

Vanilla Park
There is a large lavender field of over 60,000 square meters in Vanilla Park, located in the Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone.
A variety of interesting activities are also on offer with visitors able to take part in a creative market, as well as baking classes, flower arranging, and tea art.

Jing'an Sculpture Park Art Center
The Hans Christian Anderson Awards 50th Anniversary Exhibition is being held at the Shanghai Jing'an Sculpture Park Art Center from April 29 to July 28. The exhibition, authorized by Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and the International Board on Books for Young People, displays nearly 300 sketches from 25 outstanding illustrators, such as Robert Ingpen who worked as the illustrator for Hans Christian Anderson's The Ugly Duckling.
Hans Christian Andersen Award was launched by the International Board on Books for Young People in 1956 and was sponsored by Queen Margrethe II of Denmark. The award, named after Hans Christian Anderson, the famed 19th-century Danish author of fairy tales, is regarded as the highest honor for children's literature writers and illustrators.
