Mingfeng Mountain Park, one of the 10 park construction projects currently planned in Pingtan, Fujian province, is expected to begin construction in the second half of 2017.
Built on the site of a former quarry, the 7.5-million-yuan ($ 1.1 million), 221,400-square-meter park will contain pits of various sizes, enabling visitors to get to know the city's quarrying heritage through these unique landscapes.
Designed to blend into the original landscape, the park will make use of the pre-existing stone pits to become a new destination for showcasing Pingtan’s culture and history, according to a member of staff at Pingtan Jiayuan Development Co, the company undertaking the project.
In addition to the stone pits, the park shall also highlight the natural landscape of the region, with visitors expected to be able to enjoy a dazzling array of beautiful flora and fauna all year round.
