The amateurs were divided into five age groups and with this year's prize money standing at more than 10,000 yuan ($1,453) there was certainly an air of competition about proceedings as Chen Hao, who competed for the second year in a row, can attest to.
"This is my second year appearance in the event and I feel the level of competition this year is much higher."
Chen won the men's middle-age competition and was one of eight champions over the two day event.

Other competitions that will held over the coming months include tennis, kayaking, martial arts, running, and badminton.
