The Information Office of the Guiyang Municipal Government announced at a press conference on May 22 that Guiyang has proposed a new general solution for the open sharing of government data, making it the first city in China to utilize big data in government transparency.

The new proposal includes an e-government website, the Guiyang Block Data Company and five online platforms for open data, value-added services and security monitoring in order to build a comprehensive management system for government data transparency, according to Tang Zhenjiang, director of Guiyang's big data management commission.

"Guiyang's new solution solves key problems in government transparency and could be promoted nationwide," said Huan Maosheng, deputy secretary-general of the National Big Data Management Center.

Some of the data sharing platforms have already been in use since Jan 2017, releasing health care, finance and education data to the public. Page views on the data site have exceeded 120,000, with record downloads exceeding 40,000.
