Guangzhou's science and technological week opened at the Guangdong Science Center on May 20. The important event aims to popularize science among the public through a range of spectacular activities.
Dances, speeches, magic and musical performances themed on science were all presented during the opening ceremony, distinguished guests from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan also showcasing scientific innovations technological achievements onstage.
Guangzhou will also hold photography exhibitions, forums and performances over the next few days to provide a sharing platform for scientific education.
The "night of science" will be unveiled during the first days of the week at botanical gardens, museums and other scientific spots, bringing scientific lectures, carnivals, astronomical activities and parties to enrich the evening life of Guangzhou's residents.
Over 100 scientific population bases, universities, research institutes, companies and other showrooms were open to the public on May 20 under the government regulation that the third Saturday of May is "science open day", allowing residents to experience science attractions for free.
