Baotou put on a paper-cutting exhibition in Yueyang, Hunan province on May 15, with 60 paper-cuttings from the city on display, according to local media.
The exhibition, as part of Baotou’s move to promote its intangible cultural heritage and distinctive grassland culture, invited some of the most famous Baotou paper-cutting artists including Zhang Li, Sun Erlin and Wang Zhaogang.

Paper-cutting is one of the most important folk arts in China, with a history that can be traced back to the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24) when Cai Lun invented paper.
Baotou paper-cutting incorporates grassland and nomadic culture into art, and was listed as part of China’s cultural heritage in 2010.
