Sanmenxia environmental protection bureau analyzed the overall quality of the city's air recently, using laser air pollution radar detectors.
After four days of measuring, the bureau detected five stationary and one random pollution source – with PM 10 (particulate matter) making up the majority of the pollution.

The stationary pollutions sources were the Beidaling section along West Huanghe Road, areas neighboring G30 Expressway, areas west to North Hedi Road, south to Shanzhou Avenue next to the 209 National Road, and northern parts of Yaoshan Road.
The market area on Yongxing Street and Wenming Road was listed as a random pollution source.

The analysis allowed the environmental protection bureau to draw a pollution map of the city which will play a vital role in future environmental planning.
