Several cute and pretty graffiti paintings, including calabash brothers, Tom and Jerry, and Doraemon, were recently drawn on the roadside curbs on the Hudong campus of Changchun Institute of Technology.
A painting competition opened on Hudong campus on April 27, which required participants to draw art pieces on the curbstones. More than 100 students from 16 classes in the School of Architecture and Design join in the contest and composed about a hundred colorful pieces in total.
A middle-aged woman surnamed Chang who always visits the campus said that the creative idea of painting the road curbs evokes her childhood memories.
"I discovered the beautiful path only recently. After being decorated by the students, the curbs create a feast for the eye," Chang said. "This is what a college campus should be like."
It is not easy to compose on the curbstones. Therefore, students surfed the internet for inspiration and added popular elements into their pieces.
Eco-friendly waterproof pigments and tools are used in the process, which demonstrates their desire to protect the environment while ensuring the durability of the paintings, according to Wang Chao, secretary of the Youth League Committee at the School of Architecture and Design.
Wang added that the competition aimed to enrich campus culture and create new landscapes on the campus.
