East China's Wuxi officially launched a campaign on May 10 urging citizens to raise public consciousness on issues surrounding safe, civilized, and legal behavior.

The event was held at a Xuelang town, Binghu district, educational base that guides members of the public in avoiding wrongdoing, a facility which has seen an investment of more than 56 million yuan ($8.11 million) in recent years.

Xu Shengxi, head of Wuxi's public security administrative committee office, announced that the campaign is set to involve 13 special activities promoting secure and legal construction practices.

The event saw many high level figures attend the launch ceremony including Cai Wenyu, vice-director of Wuxi's publicity department, officials from public security, and keen netizens. The participants learned about case studies exemplifying both honest and corrupt practices by officials from a series of on display exhibitions. The gathered assembly also had the chance to tour the facility.

Xu was keen to acknowledge that Wuxi's newest campaign launches from a strong starting point given the previous efforts of the local authorities.
