The Hohhot Red Cross Society offered voluntary services for local communities to on May 8 to commemorate the 70th World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day.
Voluntary events included fund donations, charity drives, emergency exercises and free medical consultations and examinations.
Red Cross and Red Crescent Day was first established by the International Federation of Red Cross and Crescent Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross in 1948 to celebrate the birthday of Henry Dunant, founder of the Red Cross and the first recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.
World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day honors the 7 Principles of the Red Cross – Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality.
