A new street decked out in the style of the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911) opened on April 29, at Yixing's Yangxian Eco Tourism Resort.

A county level city of Wuxi, Yixing has been redeveloping its old buildings in a program which has been running since 1997. The program deconstructs and relocates dilapidated buildings from rural Anhui, Jiangxi, and Zhejiang before rebuilding and renovating them in the city.

More than 50 old buildings have been transported to Yixing over the years.

To make sure the restorations are accurate, hundreds of craftsmen from Anhui were employed to put the buildings back together in their original style. After four years of solid effort, an entire street has been restored to its former glory.

The 300-meter street is expected to become a popular tourist destination in Yixing and bring more revenue in to the city, particulary during holidays and festivals.
