Harbin Engineering University (HEU) will cooperate with Shandong’s Ocean University of China (OUC) in the areas of personnel training and scientific research, according to an agreement signed on May 3 at OUC.
The agreement was signed by the presidents of the two universities in the library of OUC’s Laoshan campus in Qingdao.
Yu Zhigang, president of OUC, noted that HEU and OUC have common goals since they are both key universities in the discipline of marine science.
“The two sides will fully implement the agreement which urges long-term and further cooperation in the fields of personnel training, scientific education, and the planning and construction of a new campus,” he said.
"We have to make every effort to make contributions to building China into a strong country for marine science,” he added.
Yao Yu, president of HEU, claimed that the university has to learn from the successful experiences of the OUC in discipline construction in and encouraging more people to innovate.
Yao disclosed that the newly planned Qingdao campus of HEU is adjacent to a campus of OUC.
"This provides a convenient condition for both sides to enhance cooperation,” Yao said.
"The strategic agreement signed by the two parties is an important measure for HEU in expanding development space,” he said.
