Shenyang will take steps to develop its integrated circuit (IC) equipment manufacturing industry over the next few decades, in response to the Made in China 2025 Strategy.
The news was announced at the Integrated Circuit Equipment and Semiconductor Materials Industries Forum held in Shenyang on April 14, where experts on integrated circuit equipment and leading representatives from industrial firms gathered to discuss topics surrounding strengthening cooperation in the integrated circuit manufacturing industry and future development of the industry.
Experts reached consensus that a complete integrated circuit industrial chain integrating technical research and innovation, components and parts processing, as well as equipment manufacturing has already taken shape in Shenyang. The top technical capabilities of Shenyang will allow the city to compete globally.
Currently, Shenyang has officially enacted a program to develop its integrated circuit equipment manufacturing industry centered on the core Shenyang-based businesses in this industry. The program is in line with the Made in China 2025 Strategy, which is the State Council’s 10-year action plan to upgrade and transform Chinese manufacturing, introduced in May 2015.
Hunnan district in Shenyang is planning to establish a semiconductor industrial park, which will focus on integrated circuit equipment manufacturing, according to the head of Hunan International Industrial Park Management Commission at the forum.
