Basque Festival, also Russian Easter Day, was celebrated by the Russian ethnic group and border soldiers in Ergun, Inner Mongolia autonomous region on April 16.
As a grand gala for the Russian ethnic group, the festival attracted hundreds of people and involved activities including folk singing, dancing, and horse parades. Various foods were also on offer along with the chance to take part in egg painting.
For followers of the Russian Orthodox Church, Basque Festival marks the resurrection of Jesus, and usually falls on a Sunday in April, lasting for one week each year.
The Russian ethnic group is one of China’s smallest ethnic minorities with most of them inhabiting Inner Mongolia’s Ergun.
