Heilongjiang’s first organic restaurant opens

Heilongjiang opened its first organic restaurant in Harbin on April 12.

Xiaoshihou Organic Restaurant owns and manages its whole supply chain and gets all its food from its own farms.

The whole food-production process, from growing the vegetables to producing the food, all meet the necessary standards for organic food production.

"All vegetables are grown without pesticides and chemical fertilizers," said Li Jianjin, the manager of Xiaoshihou.

"During the food-production process, the original taste and flavor are guaranteed since they are cooked in low temperatures with little oil and salt," Li said.

Heilongjiang, located in Northeast China, is a big province famous for its fertile black earth - a kind of earth which is most suitable for agricultural production.

Since 1949, Heilongjiang has been the first big agricultural province in China, producing rich and high quality agricultural products.

In recent years, with the promotion of agricultural supply-side reforms, the quality of agricultural products has been improving.

Relying on the advantages of the agricultural industry, developing an agricultural products processing industry has become one of the key tasks for the government of Heilongjiang.

At the 2016 annual meeting of the Heilongjiang Food Cooking Industry Association, a consensus emerged for the catering industry to develop organic food resources in the province, and combine the catering industry with the tourism industry.
