An activity held in honor of martyrs and ancestors is held at the monument of Wu Yunduo in Baotou, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, April 2. Wu Yunduo was an expert in artillery technology during the period of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1937-45). He made a great contribution to key projects including the study of recoilless artillery, anti-aircraft artillery and trench mortars after the foundation of the People’s Republic of China in 1949. Tomb Sweeping Day, or Qingming Festival, is a statutory public holiday in China which falls on the fourth or fifth day of the fourth lunar month each year.
