Lushun Museum holds culture exhibition on ancient Zhongshan State

The city museum in Lushun showcases 240 relics of the ancient Zhongshan State as part of events to mark the 100th anniversary of the museum.

The special exhibition, entitled “Culture of the Ancient Zhongshan State”,opened to the public for free on Mar 31.

Guo Dashun, an expert in archaeology; Zhang Limin, director of Hebei Museum; and Zhang Cuimin, director of Archaeological Institute of Dalian, were invited to the Dalian Museology Forum on the exhibition’s opening day. They analyzed culture of the ancient Zhongshan State and the Warring States period.   

Zhongshan was a Di state created by the nomadic Xianyu tribe during the later Zhou Dynasty. It was located on the eastern plain of the Shanxi plateau near the modern city of Baoding in Hebei. From the 1970s to the 1980s, Lingshou Old Town and Zhongshan Emperor's Tomb were successively unearthed, revealing the mysteries of the ancient State.

The exhibition runs to Jun 30. As well as discovering a unique part of China’s history, visitors will also have the opportunity to experience how to make a rubbing of patterns on the bronze wares.
