At 10 in the morning, lots of people are to be found in the wards of the Acupuncture and Moxibustion Department of the hospital of Chinese medicine in Lushunkou city. The department's director is doing her normal check of every patient. She bends down and talks to each one, finding the acupuncture points quickly and inserting the needle decidedly. After no more than 10 minutes, six patients in the ward have finished their treatment, and Wang Hongmei turns to the next ward. There are ten wards in the department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, housing about fifty or sixty long-term patients. Wang Hongmei visits all ten wards every day.

Wang Hongmei is 42 years old, and has been an acupuncturist for 21 years. She always says that the greatest achievement for a doctor is watching patients walk out of the hospital in good health. Wang Hongmei is an excellent member of the Communist Party -- she goes to work early and stays late, trying her best to meet the requirements of every patient. When she treats disabled patients, she always helps them take off their clothes and shoes. Over time she has become a good friend to many patients. Nonlocal people come to the hospital of Chinese medicine in Lushunkou city to see Wang Hongmei because of her professional medical skill. In the 21-years of her work, she has hardly enjoyed one complete weekend. She has launched home clinics and visited rural areas to provide medical services to patients to overcome the problem of treatment expense.

Song Maoxia has heavy tenosynovitis in her left hand. After she received the first acupuncture treatment from Wang Hongmei, the left hand felt better than before. "It's amazing! This is my first time to receive treatment from Doctor Wang -- I feel better than I ever did receiving treatment in other hospitals," said Song. Sometimes, Wang Hongmei introduces the theory of acupuncture treatment to patients to help them better understand traditional Chinese medicine, and to make acupuncture a part of their daily lives.

To improve herself, Wang Hongmei studied at the Chinese Medicine Research Institute of Liaoning Province and Dalian hospital of Chinese medicine. She also joined the China Association of Acupuncture and Massage, the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences and the world Association of Acupuncture and Massage. At the same time, she absorbed different theories from Korea, Japan and Taiwan. As a result, Wang Hongmei has made a breakthrough in the acupuncture treatment of trigeminal neuralgia, prosopospasm and many chronic diseases, and developed unique treatments for epilepsy, asthma and infertility.
