Quzhou, east China's Zhejiang province, was voted one of the top ten cities in China for ecological culture and leisure tourism by a panel of tourism industry officials and journalists on Nov 6.
The city's 1,800-year history has provided Quzhou with a hugely rich cultural heritage. The city is renowned as a center for Confucian culture, as one branch of the Great Sage's family moved to the city during the Southern Song dynasty (1127-1279 AD).
The city is also blessed with beautiful natural landscapes and has been making efforts to develop its rural tourism.
Many old villages scattered in the rural areas of Quzhou are precious tourism resources. Villages such as Guangdu and Gaotiankeng still keep the ancient residences, temples, streets and traditional folk customs.
