This restaurant, perched alongside beautiful West Lake, was established during the Qing dynasty (1848) and, in its 150-year history, has followed a principle of a “restaurant brand of good food, and booming food culture”.
Its dining rooms are elegant in their decoration, with well-equipped facilities, and offer tasty dishes with many options.
There are the traditional dishes such as West Lake Fish in Vinegar Gravy, Longjing Shrimp, Beggar's Chicken, Songsao's Sticky Fish Soup, and Dongpo Pork, and some 200 newer items, such as Soft-shell Turtle Stewed Chicken, and Abalone with Fat Duck.
One particular set menu, the "Emperor Qianlong Banquet", as a great way to revive traditional dishes embeded with new cooking ideas.
And Lou Wailou’s desserts are not to be missed, for example, the Wushan Crisp Cake, Hupao Vegetarian Ham, and Osmanthus Sticky Rice Lotus Root, which have won "China's famous dessert" awards from the China Cuisine Association.
An old saying around here goes, "You have not really tasted delicious West Lake Fish in Vinegar Sauce if you missed Louwailou”. So, bring your guests to the restaurant and get a real taste of Hangzhou.
