Industry 2015

In 2015, the total value added of the industrial sector was 22.90 trillion yuan ($3.68 trillion), a rise of 5.9 percent from the previous year. The value added of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 6.1 percent.

Of the industrial enterprises above designated size, in terms of ownership, the value added of state-holding enterprises grew by 1.4 percent; that of collective enterprises grew by 1.2 percent; that of share-holding enterprises grew by 7.3 percent; that of enterprises run by foreign investors and investors from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan grew by 3.7 percent; and that of private enterprises grew by 8.6 percent.

In terms of sectors, the value added of the mining industry grew by 2.7 percent, that of manufacturing grew by 7.0 percent and that of the production and supply of electricity, heat power, gas and water grew by 1.4 percent.

In 2015, of the industrial enterprises above designated size, the value added for agricultural product food processing was up by 5.5 percent from the previous year; for the textile industry it was up by 7.0 percent; for the manufacturing of raw chemical materials and chemical products, it was up by 9.5 percent; for the manufacturing of non-metallic mineral products, it was up by 6.5 percent; for smelting and pressing of non-ferrous metals, it was up by 5.4 percent; for the manufacturing of general machinery, it was up by 2.9 percent; for the manufacturing of special purpose machinery, it was up by 3.4 percent; for the manufacturing of automobiles, it was up by 6.7 percent; for the manufacturing of electrical machinery and equipment, it was up by 7.3 percent; for the manufacturing of computers, communication equipment and other electronic equipment, it was up by 10.5 percent; and for the production and supply of electricity and heat power, it was up by 0.5 percent.

The growth of the value added of the six major high energy consuming industries was 6.3 percent, accounting for 27.8 percent of the value added of industrial enterprises above designated size. The value added of the high technology manufacturing industry was up by 10.2 percent from the previous year, accounting for 11.8 percent of that of industrial enterprises above designated size. The value added of the manufacturing of equipment was up by 6.8 percent, accounting for 31.8 percent of that of industrial enterprises above designated size.

The profits made by industrial enterprises above designated size in 2015 were 6.36 trillion yuan, a decrease of 2.3 percent from the previous year. Of this total, the profits of state-holding enterprises were 1.09 trillion yuan, a decrease of 21.9 percent; those of collective enterprises were 50.8 billion yuan, down by 2.7 percent; those of share-holding enterprises were 4.30 trillion yuan, a decline of 1.7 percent; those of enterprises run by foreign investors and investors from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan were 1.57 trillion yuan, down by 1.5 percent; and those of private enterprises were 2.32 trillion yuan, a rise of 3.7 percent.

In terms of different sectors, the profit from mining was 260.4 billion yuan, down by 58.2 percent compared with the previous year; that of manufacturing was 5.56  trillion yuan, up by 2.8 percent; and that of the production and supply of electricity, heat power, gas and water was 534.1 billion yuan, up by 13.5 percent.

By the end of 2015, the installed power generation capacity was 1,508.28 million kilowatts, up by 10.5 percent from the end of the previous year. Of this, the installed thermal power generation capacity was 990.21 million kilowatts, up by 7.8 percent; the installed hydropower generation capacity was 319.37 million kilowatts, up by 4.9 percent; and the installed nuclear power generation capacity was 26.08 million kilowatts, up by 29.9 percent. The installed grid-connected wind power generation capacity was 129.34 million kilowatts, up by 33.5 percent, and the installed grid-connected solar power generation capacity was 43.18 million kilowatts, an increase of 73.7 percent.
