China (Sichuan) Pilot Free Trade Zone was officially established, covering cities of Chengdu and Luzhou in the province on April 1, 2017. The Sichuan FTZ was launched to promote the construction of the Belt and Road, and develop the western region and the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
It covers 119.99 square kilometers and consists of three areas: Chengdu Tianfu New Area, Chengdu Qingbaijiang Railway Port Area and South Sichuan Port Area.
Tianfu New Area focuses on developing modern services, high-end manufacturing, advanced technology, the airport economy, and port services.
Chengdu Qingbaijiang Railway Port Area prioritizes developing port services, such as international commodity distribution and transfer, de-consolidation exhibitions, bonded logistics and warehousing, international freight forwarding, vehicle imports, and financial services, as well as modern services, such as information services, technology services, and exhibition services.
South Sichuan Port Area focuses on developing modern services, s such as shipping logistics, port trade, education and medicare, as well as advanced manufacturing and characteristic industries with local advantages, such as equipment manufacturing, modern medicine, food and beverages, and financial leasing.
